German champions Bayern Munich have launched a late attempt to pursue the services of Manchester United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Sweden international is available on a free transfer when his contract expires at Paris Saint-Germain on June 30.

  • Recent reports suggested that the 34-year-old had agreed to join the Red Devils and the deal would be finalized once he undergoes a series of medical tests after the European championships.

However, according to German daily Bild, the Bavarian giants could offer stiff competition for Ibrahimovic after they held secret negotiations with the player over a proposed transfer.

Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is thought to consider the veteran as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Ancelotti previously worked alongside the Swede at Parc des Princes.
