According to The Mail, the Turin giants were hopeful of securing a permanent deal for the 28-year-old before Blues boss Antonio Conte revealed his intentions to keep hold of the player.

Conte is likely to play a 3-5-2 formation at Stamford Bridge with Cuadrado at right wing-back, a position where he excelled in his time at Juventus.

Cuadrado, who is currently on Copa America duty with Colombia, appeared in 40 games for the Old Lady last season.
