Matt Ritchie seals Newcastle United move

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Scotland midfielder Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth. The transfer fee has yet to be disclosed.

Ritchie was one of the stand-out performers for Bournemouth in their debut season in the Premier League last term, but the prospect of linking with the Magpies was too good to ignore for the 26-year-old.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to come to a football club like this," he told the club's official website.

"I loved it at Bournemouth - I had a fantastic time there and it had a huge impact on my career. But when a club like Newcastle comes calling, I couldn't pass up this opportunity."

The former Cherries man has inked a five-year contract at Tyneside, and follows the &pound10m arrival of Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace earlier in the day.
