Man Utd after Dimitri Payet?

29 July 2016 - 08:02

Manchester United are reported to be lining up a surprise bid for West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet. The Frenchman was simply sensational in his debut Premier League season last term.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The 29-year-old joined the Hammers for £10.7m last summer after an impressive stint with Marseille - seven goals and 16 assists in the 2014-15 campaign.

He followed to make an instant mark in the top flight, and this quickly made him a fans' favourite at the East London outfit.

With speculated interest among several Chinese clubs in February, the Hammers' hierarchy offered him an improved five-year contract, for which he obliged with his signature.

His interest has since reached a new peak with his performances for France at the European championships being the main source of attraction.

A report from France Football says United have not given up on signing Payet in the current transfer window.

The Hammers have previously dismissed claims of offloading their star asset, but it is believed that a £50m fee could test their resolve.

Payet racked 12 goals and 15 assists for Slaven Bilic's side last season.
