Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has urged the club's hierarchy to lodge a bid for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane. The 'Special One' is a keen admirer of the Frenchman's talents.
According to Spanish source AS, the Red Devils remain on the hunt for a new centre-back despite recruiting Eric Bailly from Villareal earlier this summer.
Mourinho has always had an eye on his former player Varane, and it is now thought that he is desperate to get hold of his services before the transfer deadline.
The 53-year-old had signed the France international from Lens during his time at Real Madrid, and the two continue to share a fruitful relationship off the field.
Los Blancos have rebuffed a £26m bid for their asset in the transfer window, but it is unclear as to which club made the offer.
Varane is currently unsettled at the Bernabeu amid reports that Pepe will ink a contract extension this week.
