Paul Pogba’s agent has broken his silence to detail the reasons why his client chose to re-join Manchester United this summer, according to an interview with French television.

  • In an interview with French television show Telefoot, Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said that Real Madrid were desperate to sign his star client this summer, but that the player only had eyes for Manchester United.

Raiola said: “[Paul] told me clearly what he wanted – Manchester United has always been his home.”

Pogba re-signed for United this summer in world record breaking £89 million deal from Juventus.

The 23-year-old French superstar previously played for United between joining the club at 16 in 2009, and leaving to join Juventus in 2011. Pogba elected to depart Old Trafford on a free transfer after being unable to break into Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team, as well as failing to come to terms on a contract extension at the club.

Pogba moved to Juventus and immediately became a key player for the Old Lady, winning the Serie A title in each of his four seasons in Turin, as well as reaching the 2015 Champions League final, which Juve ended up losing 3-1 to Barcelona in Berlin.

Upon taking over from Louis van Gaal, new United manager José Mourinho identified Pogba as one of his key transfer targets this summer, and the Red Devils broke the bank to bring the Frenchman back to Old Trafford.
