Serge Gnabry agrees Bayern Munich move

30 August 2016 - 13:34

Bayern Munich have reportedly won the race to sign German youngster Serge Gnabry from Arsenal. The Gunners have given up on their player despite being initially reluctant to sell.

  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up vs Liverpool, Levi Colwill starts
  • Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Sunderland, Casemiro injured
  • The 21-year-old was impressive for Germany at the Rio Olympics where he netted six goals en route to the finals.

Gnabry's father has now confirmed that his son will be on his way to Bundesliga after Bayern settled on a £7m sum for his services.

"I would have liked it if Serge would have prevailed here at Arsenal, he still has a contract until 2017. But his mind is already thinking about elsewhere," Jean-Hermann told SWR.

"Bayern is like Arsenal. Even there he'll have extremely strong competition."

Manager Arsene Wenger had earlier ruled out a permanent exit for Gnabry, but it seems the lure of joining the Bavarian giants was just too good to ignore for the young prospect.

The deal is likely to be confirmed before the transfer window shuts at 11.30pm on Wednesday.
