Portuguese giants Porto had reportedly rejected a £33.6m bid from Everton in the hope of receiving an improved offer from arch-rivals Liverpool. The Algerian international was desperate for a move to the Premier League this summer.

  • Brahimi, was initially the subject of interest from Liverpool last month before Ronald Koeman's side stepped up their pursuit for his services.

According to Portuguese source O Jogo, the Dragons knocked back an offer from Goodison Park as they were expecting a formal approach from local rivals Liverpool.

However, there was no interest from the Reds, and this left the player stunned after he was kept at Porto against his will.

The 26-year-old has been the stand-out performer for Porto in recent seasons netting 21 times in 85 appearances in all competitions. He has 28 caps to his name with his national side.
