West Bromwich Albion approach Roy Hodgson for head coach role

West Bromwich Albion seem to have stepped up their pursuit for a new manager with Tony Pulis likely to end his association at The Hawthorns. The Baggies failed to strengthen their forward department during the transfer window, and this has urged Pulis to consider his position.

  • The Baggies had a tough time in the transfer market as they struggled to get in deals for their preferred targets.

Diafra Sakho was on the brink of joining the West Midlands side over the summer before he failed to pass the mandatory medical test. Whilst, their approach for Christian Benteke came to no avail as Crystal Palace outbid them to the player's services.

Finally, the club had to settle with the signing of Welsh star Hal Robson-Kanu, who was available on a free transfer after he left Reading last season.

According to The Mirror, the Baggies' hierarchy have began negotiations with Roy Hodgson over the head coach position with the future of Pulis hanging in the balance.

The 69-year-old managed the Premier League outfit between 2011 and 2012 before he took over the England job. But, his time with the Three Lions never really lit up, and he eventually handed his resignation following his side's disastrous defeat to minnows Iceland at Euro 2016.

Pulis for now remains incharge of West Bromwich Albion, but with the club looking into free-agents to fill the squad, he may be off before the end of the month.
