Marseille hoping to land Schweinsteiger on a free

14 September 2016 - 10:51

Marseille are yet to give up on the signing of Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger. The French outfit failed with a deadline day approach for the player's signature.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • 20 minutes reports that Les Phoceens are keeping tabs on the German midfielder, who is currently spending his time with the reserve side at Old Trafford.

It is added that the Ligue 1 side are hopeful of landing Schweinsteiger for a Bosman after United wrote off his £6.5m fee in the club's financial results.

Schweinsteiger has previously iterated that United would be his last club in Europe, but with the lack of playing time under Jose Mourinho, a move to Marseille could be a tempting prospect.

The former German international also has offers from clubs in United States and China, should he be reluctant to join Marseille in the New Year.
