Super agent Mino Raiola has revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was interested in linking up with Napoli prior to his switch to Manchester United. The 34-year-old joined the Red Devils on a Bosman over the summer.
Ibrahimovic had attracted interest from several Premier League clubs in the transfer window, but it was United, who convinced him the most, given his good relationship with Jose Mourinho.
While speaking to Radio Crc, Raiola made a remarkable statement that his client had thoughts of retiring with Napoli before they were reluctant to match his £250,000 weekly wages.
It was initially believed that the Swede was holding out for a move to Old Trafford, but it seems he only changed his mind after his dream of playing in Naples fell through.
Nevertheless, Ibrahimovic has shaken off his disappointment and looks to be home with Manchester United netting four goals in as many league games this season.
