Wayne Rooney has labelled Manchester United team mate Marcus Rashford as “incredible” in an interview with MUTV.

  • Speaking to Manchester United’s in house TV channel MUTV, Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney has hailed 18-year-old team mate Marcus Rashford as “incredible”.

    The 30-year-old former Everton striker praised Rashford’s attitude and work rate, and commended how his has managed to carry on his impressive form from last season in the new campaign.

    Rashford came off the bench to score United’s third goal in their 3-1 EFL Cup win over Northampton Town on Wednesday night, helping the Red Devils progress to the fourth round, where they will face rivals Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Old Trafford on 26 October.

    The tie against the Cobblers was Rashford’s first appearance in the newly rebranded EFL Cup, meaning that he has kept up his impressive record of goal scoring debuts.

    The youngster has now managed to net on his first outing in the Premier League, Europa League and EFL Cup, as well as for England at both senior and under-21 level.

    Rashford has racked up a total of 12 goals in 28 appearances since making his shock senior debut in the Europa League in February, including goals in high-profile fixtures against City, Arsenal and an FA Cup quarter-final replay against West Ham United.

    The teenager has been earmarked for a bright future in the game, and many United fans believe that, despite his tender years, he should already be a shoo-in for Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven on a regular basis.
