Marseille want Man Utd's Schneiderlin on loan

07 October 2016 - 00:27

Ligue 1 side Marseille are lining up a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports in France.

  • Chelsea have discussed move for Alejandro Garnacho
  • Spanish star has arrived in London to complete Arsenal transfer

  • Buzzsport is reporting that France international midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is being lined up for a possible loan move by Ligue 1 side Marseille, and the former Southampton player struggles to find sufficient game time for Manchester United.

Marseille have recently been taken over by an American investor and are expected to be active in the transfer marted once the window re-opens in January, and Schneiderlin is supposedly on their wanted list.

The 26-year-old has made only one Premier League appearance for the Red Devils so far this season, coming on as a late substitute in the opening fixture away to Bournemouth.

The Frenchman apparently sits behind Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in Jose Mourinho’s central midfield pecking order. If his lack of playing time continues, he may well look to make an exit from Old Trafford in the near future.

Schneiderlin joined United from Southampton in a £25 million deal last summer, but has struggled to make the kind of impact expected of him in Manchester.

If he were to join Marseille, Schneiderlin would be returning to French football for the first time since he signed for Southampton in 2008, where he went on to help the South Coast club climb from League One into the Premier League.
