  • The Sun is reporting that Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is almost certain to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window, with a move to Major League Soccer in the United States on the cards.

Schweinsteiger is rumoured to be set for a switch away from United despite having only joined the club in the summer of 2015, signing from Bayern Munich in £6 million deal.

The 32-year-old former Germany captain’s first season in the Premier League was disrupted by a string of injuries, and reports at the end of the campaign suggested that some of his United team mates were less than impressed with his propensity to travel back to his homeland while out of action.

And when Jose Mourinho took the Red Devils hot seat in the summer, he immediately made it known that Schweinsteiger would not figure in his plans. The 2014 World Cup winner has been made to train with the under 23 team ever since, and there appears to be no chance of him making it back into the senior side.

For his part, Schweinsteiger has confirmed his commitment to United, insisting that he will not move to another European team and is ready to perform for the first team if called upon.
