Sadio Mane reveals why he turned down Man Utd

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has insisted that it was his decision to snub Manchester United in the summer of 2015.

  • The Senegal international joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, and notched 10 goals and four assists in his debut campaign.

    Having impressed in his maiden season, the Red Devils, formerly managed by Louis van Gaal, were hot on the trail of his services, before the attacker opted to stay put at St.Mary's.

    Mane has now revealed he made the choice to remain at the South Coast as a move to Old Trafford would have been premature.

    He followed to replicate his performances during the 2015-16 season, and this eventually urged him to join Liverpool on a club-record deal at a time he felt he was prepared for a bigger challenge.

    Mane will look to impress for Jurgen Klopp's side tonight when they host Manchester United in the Premier League.
