Sakho on search for fresh club

Mamadou Sakho off to Lille?

25 October 2016 - 08:25

French side Lille are prepared to offer a lifeline to Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho. The centre-half is currently featuring for the reserves after Jurgen Klopp insisted that he has no future at the club.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Sakho was sent back from the Reds' pre-season tour in the summer after he came up late for each and every training session.

He was therein linked with the likes of Stoke City and AS Roma in the transfer window before he opted to stay put with the Merseyside outfit.

Since then, Sakho has been allowed to play for the Under-23's with a means of getting himself back to match fitness for his next move.

Sources in France suggest Lille are keen on recruiting the former Paris Saint-Germain star following their lacklustre start to the league campaign. Incoming sports director Luis Campos has the centre-back as one among his top targets when the transfer reopens in January.

Sakho last appeared in the league during Liverpool's 2-1 win at Bournemouth before he was suspended for a failed drugs test, which he was cleared from in July.
