Napoli eyeing Jackson Martinez

Martinez linked with Italy move

Napoli eyeing Jackson Martinez

Italian giants Napoli are weighing up a move for Jackson Martinez after Arek Milik sustained a long-term injury.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Summer recruit Milik sustained a nasty knee problem on international duty with Poland earlier this month, and this is likely to keep him out of action for five months.

Recent speculation suggested the Naples outfit could lodge an attempt to sign in-form Fiorentina ace Nikola Kalinic, but according to Messaggero, Martinez has emerged as the top target.

The 30-year-old spent three successful seasons at Porto between 2012 and 2015 before he earned himself a move to Atletico Madrid.

He struggled to get in the goals at Vicente Calderon and eventually opted to pursue a fresh challenge in China with Guangzhou Evergrande in February this year.

Martinez is well known as a deadly finisher in front of goal, and this has captured the attention of Napoli, who are prepared to recoup funds by selling Manolo Gabbiadini in the New Year.

The Colombian international has netted 189 goals in his professional career which began with Independiente Medellín in 2005.
