Pep - Aguero a key player for City

Pep wants Aguero stay

26 October 2016 - 11:02

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he wants to keep hold of Sergio Aguero for years to come. The Argentine has netted 11 goals so far this season.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Aguero was benched during his side's 4-0 Champions League thumping at Barcelona last week, and this led to suggestions that he could assess his future at the Etihad.

However, Pep has rubbished claims of any potential exit by admitting that Aguero remains a key part of his plans for the season, and is hopeful he could stay for the long-term.

"I want to say I am so happy with Sergio, and hopefully he stays here a long time," The Catalan tactician told reporters. "I know the strikers depend on the moments, sometimes they're good, but we cannot forget how many goals he has scored for us."

Manchester City will seek to end their five match winless streak when they visit local rivals Manchester United in the EFL Cup later tonight.
