Manchester United are considering a January approach for reported Chelsea target Antonio Rudiger. The German international currently plys his trade for AS Roma.

  • The centre-half was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer before a sustained a long-term knee injury on international duty.

    According to The Mail, Jose Mourinho is mulling over an offer for Rudiger, who is expected to feature for Roma in the next couple of months. Rudiger has recovered from his knee problem, but it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his old self.

    The Special One is assessing the futures of Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo as he bids to recruit a new centre-back and right-back to his ranks.

    Rudiger has earned 11 caps with his national side, and was due to feature at the European championships before he ruptured his knee ligaments in training.
