Mark Hughes dispels Shaqiri exit talk

31 October 2016 - 16:55

Mark Hughes has iterated that Xherdan Shaqiri remains a key player for Stoke City during the ongoing campaign. The Swiss international has been recently linked with a move to AS Roma.

  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • Shaqiri's brother and agent Erdin claimed earlier the month that a switch to AS Roma could be a possibility in the New Year.

However, manager Hughes has ruled the player's exit by insisting that the 25-year-old is happy and settled at the Bet365 Stadium, and has no plans of leaving the club in the near future.

The former Inter Milan star had one of his best performances in a Potters shirt as he bagged a brace in the 2-0 win over Hull City in the previous encounter.

Shaqiri has turned out 37 times for Stoke City in all competitions till date.
