Emery backs Aurier to succeed at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has rubbished claims that defender Serge Aurier in his talks over a move to Barcelona.

  • Recent speculation claimed the player's agent had began negotiations with the Catalan giants amid the 23-year-old's desire to leave Parc des Princes.

    However, Emery, who tookover the managerial reigns in the summer, has affirmed that the Ivory Coast international is set to stay in the French capital given he is a young player with 'a lot of potential'.

    The right-back has had his off-field problems this season after he received a two-month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer outside of a Paris nightclub in September. Les Parisiens have since appealed against the punishment.

    Aurier has appeared over 50 outings for the Ligue 1 holders since arriving from Toulouse on an initial loan in 2014.
