Man Utd to pursue Diego Godin

United have Godin on winter shortlist

Man Utd to pursue Diego Godin

05 November 2016 - 07:01

Manchester United are lining up a £30m bid for Diego Godin in the January transfer window. Jose Mourinho is eager to recruit a centre-half with leadership qualities.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Red Devils have looked off colour during the opening stages of the campaign with the defensive setup being a major concern.

According to The Sun, the Mancunian giants are prepared to offload some of their fringe players as they seek to recoup funds to sign Godin.

The likes of Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, and Phil Jones are all expected to head through the Old Trafford exit door, and this will provide United with space to bolster their squad.

Godin is well known for his defensive organisation at Vicente Calderon, and his arrival could provide a steely resolve to United's backline.

Mourinho's side face a tricky test on Sunday when they face lowly-placed Swansea City in the Premier League.
