Italian giants Napoli are prepared to lodge a winter attempt to sign Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serie A outfit are currently short upfront after Arek Milik sustained a knee problem earlier last month.
Milik is expected to be out for at least four months with an anterior cruciate ligament damage, and this has urged the club to search for a possible replacement.
According to The Mirror, the Naples side are weighing up a bid for Mitrovic, who is a fan favourite at St.James Park.
The Serbian international struggled during the opening stages of his debut campaign in 2015, but has since put up a string of impressive performances.
Napoli will make a bid of around £18m for the highly-rated striker when the transfer window reopens in two months' time.
The 22-year-old has amassed 14 goals in 45 appearances for Newcastle United till date.
