Darmian set for United stay?

Matteo Darmian plays down exit talk

09 November 2016 - 09:45

Italian full-backĀ Matteo DarmianĀ has insisted that he is not mulling over a winter exit from Manchester United. The 26-year-old has recently returned to the first-team fold after Antonio Valencia sustained an arm injury.

  • The 26-year-old barely featured for the Red Devils at the start of the season, and they were suggestions he could return to Italy in January with Inter Milan being his main admirers.

However, the injury absence of Valencia has seen Darmian regain a starting role, which in turn has brushed off speculation over his future.

"Jose Mourinho wanted to cast me out? I've read things like that, but I don't think it's true," Darmian told Sky Italia. "I keep going on my way, working to improve and give the coach a selection headache. I'm not thinking about the transfer window, it's still too early."

The versatile defender has started his side's last three outings in all competitions, and is expected to keep his place when Manchester United host Arsenal in the Premier League on November 19.
