No release clause on Coutinho contract

13 November 2016 - 06:13

Spanish giants Barcelona will have a tough time negotiating a deal for Philippe Coutinho after it was revealed that he has no release clause in his contract.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Brazil international had been linked with a move to Camp Nou earlier this month amid claims that he has a £65m release clause in his contract.

According to ESPN, the Reds are in no hurry to offload their asset with his existing deal running until the summer of 2020.

Barca had previously lured Luis Suarez from Anfield in a £65m deal in 2014, and this led to suggestions that Coutinho could follow a similar suit next summer.

However, the player is said to be content with life at Merseyside and is looking forward to guiding his side to a long-awaited league title.

Coutinho has netted five goals and five assists for Liverpool, who are currently heading the Premier League standings.
