  • The 23-year-old has evolved into a regular at Old Trafford since his breakthrough spell under former boss Louis van Gaal last term.

According to The Mirror, the attacker has stalled on talks over a fresh contract despite being offered a five-year extension worth &pound60,000-a-week - double of what he is currently earning.

Lingard is said to be content to remain at Old Trafford, but he will play the waiting time as he aims to earn a weekly salary in excess of &pound80,000.

The club graduate played no part for Manchester United over the weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Everton in the Premier League.
