Ighalo wants Mikel at Watford

Watford striker Odion Ighalo has urged his club to sign national teammate and Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi in the New Year. The Nigerian international has yet to kick the ball for the Blues this season.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder

  • Mikel, 29, is approaching the final six months of his contract, and signs are he will pursue a fresh move in the January transfer window.

The Super Eagles skipper has had a shrewd relationship with Antonio Conte since the start of the campaign, and despite working hard in training, he remains surplus to requirements.

While speaking to Premier League fanzone, Ighalo admitted that Mikel is a 'very good' player, and he would have him in his side at first sight.

Mikel, who is currently Chelsea's second-longest serving player, is also a transfer target for former Blues boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
