Atletico Madrid want Chelsea's Eduardo

18 December 2016 - 06:31

Atletico Madrid are preparing an approach for Chelsea goalkeeper Eduardo ahead of the winter transfer window. The 34-year-old joined the Blues on a one-year deal from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer.

  • The Portugal international has not featured for the Blues in any competition this season, and he is clearly the third-choice shot-stopper behind Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic.

According to TMW, Atleti will be forced to dip into the market for a new goalkeeper after the ever-impressive Jan Oblak sustained a long-term shoulder problem.

Miguel Angel Moya is currently taking up the number one duties at Vicente Calderon, but Diego Simeone is prepared to add an experienced recruit in Eduardo, who has represented 36 times for Portugal.

The Premier League leaders are currently in a precarious position over the future of Asmir Begovic, and it will be interesting to see whether they decide to offload Eduardo in the New Year.

Begovic, 29, has been linked with a potential loan return to Stoke City after his struggles to make the starting line-up this season.
