West Ham tipped to offload Payet to Marseille

Hammers to complete Payet deal before deadline

West Ham tipped to offload Payet to Marseille

29 January 2017 - 10:45

West Ham United are expected to finalize the transfer of Dimitri Payet despite rejecting Marseille's latest attempt to sign the Frenchman.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The France international is currently training with the Hammers' reserves as he edges closer to a return to the south of France.

According to The Sun, the Hammers will conclude the sale of Payet before the deadline with Marseille likely to come up with a renewed bid for their former star.

Marseille have already had four bids rebuffed for the player with their latest offer of £27m still being below the Hammers' £30m valuation.

Payet is said to be willing to take a significant pay cut on his £125,000 weekly wages, and this will probably convince Marseille to match his valuation prior to Tuesday's 11 pm deadline.

The 29-year-old has already faced the furore among the West Ham faithful, and the club will seek to offload him at the earliest opportunity.
