Barca to hijack Man Utd bid for Benfica ace?

Manchester United may regret not signing Victor Lindelof in the January transfer window with Barcelona having expressed their interest in the defender.

  • The Sweden international was on the verge of sealing a move to United last month before Jose Mourinho pulled the plug on the deal.

Benfica were said to demand fees of around £50m for the centre-back, and this urged Mourinho to delay the move until the summer owing to the impressive form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.

According to Portuguese source O Jogo, the Red Devils could face stiff competition from Barcelona after they sent scouts to watch the player in action over the weekend.

Lindelof has the added potential to play on the right side of the defence, and this is something which may have attracted interest from Luis Enrique, who is currently short of a quality player in the position.

Manchester United had recently held discussions over a summer deal for Lindelof, but the transfer price still appears to keep them at bay.
