Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng have dismissed speculation that there are in the running to sign Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas.

  • Fabregas, 29, has been largely a bench player at Stamford Bridge this season, and he is said to be considering a potential move away from the club.

Shandong have been linked with a move for the World Cup winner in recent days, but they have now insisted that no foreign player will be added to their setup before this month's transfer deadline.

"Yikes! What a super competent agent we have. But Fabregas is not our cup of tea. Please, for God's sake do not spread the fake news. Shandong Luneng will not buy another foreign player this season," read a statement on the club's official Weibo account.

The Chinese outfit were previously said to be in the hunt to sign Manchester United's Ashley Young last month, but it now appears they are focused on promoting players from their youth ranks.
