Spurs Name Strong Starting Eleven

Spurs will hope that Harry Kane can fire them through to the next round

Spurs Name Strong Starting Eleven

16 February 2017 - 17:21

Tottenham Hotspur have named a strong squad for their Europa League round of 32 first leg tie against Gent tonight. (6PM Kick-Off UK)

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Mauricio Pochettino has performed well since he became manager at White Hart Lane, but he is yet to win a trophy and may see the Europa League as a good opportunity to change that statistic. Tottenham are also challenging in the Premier League, however they have now fallen ten points behind Chelsea, and with the Blues not competing in Europe, it will be difficult for Spurs to recover that deficit.

This time last year Spurs were again challenging in both the Premier League and Europa League, however finished eleven points behind champions Leicester and fell in the final 16 to Borussia Dortmund respectively. Tottenham fans will be impressed with the improvement of their side over the last few seasons, although they will now be looking for them to progress further and win their first trophy since 2008.

Tonight's lineup sees Lloris, Alderweireld, Dembele, Alli and Kane all start, with the options of Eriksen and Son on the bench if required.

Tottenham Hotspur starting XI v Gent: Lloris (c), Walker, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies, Wanyama, Dembele, Sissoko, Winks, Alli, Kane

Substitutes: Vorm, Son, Nkoudou, Trippier, Eriksen, Onomah, Wimmer
