French champions Paris Saint-Germain were keen on offloading winger Angel di Maria during the winter transfer window.

  • The Argentina international, who netted a brace in the 4-0 Champions League humbling of Barcelona, joined Les Parisiens following an unfruitful spell at Manchester United in 2014-15.

Di Maria had been struggling for form during the first-half of the campaign, and according to L'Equipe, the Ligue 1 holders had plans of cashing in on the attacker last month.

A host of Chinese clubs were prepared to match the French club's demands, but Di Maria clarified to his agent Jorge Mendes that he would not be leaving under any compulsion.

The 29-year-old has since turned up a different person for the Paris outfit, who are currently in a fight to retain the league title.

Unai Emery's side are currently third in the standings, six points adrift of free-scoring leaders AS Monaco.
