Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has highlighted that his side's failure to qualify for the Champions League will have no influence on his future decision.
Recent speculation suggested that the veteran could opt for a fresh challenge in the summer, should the Red Devils fail to clinch a top-four position or lift the Europa League - which guarantees Champions League football.
Zlatan netted a brace in a MOM performance during United's 3-2 win over Southampton in the EFL Cup final, and shortly after the game, he hinted that he could stay put at United regardless of the competition they compete in next season.
"I came here and the club wasn't in the Champions League, so it had nothing to do with the Champions League. So somebody made up a story that if they don't qualify for the Champions League I will not extend. It has nothing to do with that," he told reporters.
Zlatan currently has a clause which would extend his United stay by a further year and the decision for next season could be dependent on how he feels physically.
The 35-year-old has surprised many in the English top flight this term having already amassed 26 goals in just 38 appearances for Manchester United.
Should Zlatan remain at Old Trafford next season, he would be guaranteed Europa League football at the least through the League Cup triumph.
