AC Milan are willing to pay £95million for Real star

AC Milan are reportedly lining up a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez. The Italian giants will have big money to spend if the proposed takeover by Chinese investors is completed, and this could see them table a £95 million bid for the Colombian international.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Inter Milan have also shown interest in Rodriguez of late, and reports in Don Balon today explain that AC Milan chiefs have asked Real Madrid to tell them if they receive any offers from Inter, allowing them to exceed that in order to get their man.

Despite the big offer, Rodriguez has recently said that he is happy in Madrid an can see himself staying there for years to come, however, he has failed to establish a regular starting position under the management of Zinedine Zidane, and may decide a move at some point is best for his career.

Another potential stumbling block is that AC Milan may not qualify for next season's Champions League. The Milan club have played some attractive football this season, but currently find themselves in seventh position, seven points behind the final qualifying place, with eleven games to go. Rodriguez is used to challenging for the Champions League trophy on a regular basis, so will be desperate to at least be playing in the competition should he move.
