Brazil international David Luiz admits he still has plans of leaving Chelsea before the end of his playing career. The centre-back has been simply sensational for the Blues this season and has carried on despite nursing a minor knee problem.
Luiz, 29, returned to the Blues from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day last summer after the club failed to find to negotiate a deal for previous target Kalidou Koulibaly.
He has since performed above expectations in a back three under Antonio Conte, and though he does make the odd mistake, the new formation appears to have evolved him into a new player.
Luiz is currently contracted to the Premier League leaders until the summer of 2019, but when asked about his next move, he revealed his desire to return to Benfica.
The central defender spent four years at Benfica between 2007 and 2011 before he earned his first stint at Stamford Bridge, but he dreams of lifting the Champions League with the Primeira Liga outfit.
Benfica will have no passage to the Champions League quarter-finals this season after they were ousted by Borussia Dortmund who clinched a 4-1 aggregate win in the round of 16.
