John Terry will leave Chelsea this summer

18 March 2017 - 07:42

Chelsea defender John Terry will not have his contract renewed at the end of the current campaign. The former England international has filled in as a squad player under Antonio Conte this season.

  • Man Utd handed double injury boost for Arsenal game
  • Man Utd to hold concrete talks to sign French winger

  • Terry, 36, was expected to be offloaded at the end of the previous campaign, but he was opted a one-year extension in order to help Antonio Conte decide his options in the heart of the defence.

The ex-England international had plans to lift his fifth Premier League title at Stamford Bridge, and he looks on course to achieve the feat before heading for a fresh challenge in a new league.

According to The Star, Terry will not be offered an extension beyond the season, and this presents him with a move to one of MLS or China in the summer.

Terry will earn a lucrative salary package should he opt for a move to the Far East, but a switch to the United States can not be ruled out due to the luxury on offer.

The veteran is currently Chelsea's longest serving player having appeared in 713 outings since making his debut in the 1998-1999 season.
