Zouma open to loan move

France and Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has suggested that he is open to a loan move away from Stamford Bridge in order to secure a place in the France squad for next year's World Cup in Russia.

  • Zouma impressed when he was given his opportunity in the first team last season for Chelsea, but after suffering a serious knee ligament injury, which kept him out of action for nine months, he has struggled to break back into the team.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has built a strong team that he rarely changes, which includes three centre backs, usually consisting of Azpilicueta, Cahill and Luiz. Due to their fantastic form and Chelsea's dominance in the Premier League, Zouma has been limited to a handful of appearances this season.

With this lack of appearances, Zouma has dropped down the pecking order with his national team aswell, leading him to look into the possibility of a loan move away from Chelsea in order to be selected for the 2018 World Cup.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Zouma explained that he loves being part of the setup at Stamford Bridge and that he sees his long term future with the Premier League leaders, however a loan move may be the best way for him to prove himself to France manager Didier Deschamps.
