Mourinho vents anger at internationals

29 March 2017 - 20:25

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his anger at seeing a number of his players return from the international break injured, saying that he is "totally against" nations playing friendlies during the season.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all picked up injuries whilst on international duty during the last week, whilst they will have to wait for stars such as Antonio Valencia and Marcus Rojo to return from long journeys to South America.

Speaking to Sky Soccer Saturday, Jose Mourinho has said that he is "totally against" countries playing friendlies during the season. He added that he fully understands the need for them in the immediate build up to a major tournament, but does not see the need for them whilst the domestic season is ongoing.

On top of this, the new injury problems that Manchester United have means that their defence will be down to it's bare bones for their Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday.
