Aitor Karanka in Manchester United move?

03 April 2017 - 14:15

Jose Mourinho will look to add Aitor Karanka to his coaching team ahead of next season, where he is planning a title challenge with the Red Devils. Karanka has been out of work for a short while after being sacked by Middlesbrough.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Mirror reports today that Mourinho is keen to add Karanka to his coaching team, having worked alongside eachother in the past with Real Madrid. Karanka learnt a lot from Mourinho, proving his quality as a manager by guiding Middlesbrough back to the Premier League. Middlesbrough decided that they needed a new face in the dugout, leading to his dismissal last month.

Since then, Mourinho has defended Karanka and backed the ability of his former colleague. It is understood that Karanka has been offered several managerial roles in Spain, but is yet to accept any of them.

The Spaniard may feel that a reunion with Mourinho is the best step for him, which would see him return to a coaching role at one of the world's biggest clubs. Mourinho is planning his additions to his staff both on and off the field ahead of next season, where he plans to return Manchester United to the top of English football.
