Big Sam enjoys Bolton return

Big Sam enjoys Bolton return

11 August 2007 - 16:41

Sam Allardyce had the perfect return to the Reebok Stadium as his new team Newcastle grabbed a 3-1 victory over his old side, Bolton. Sammy Lee will be disappointed with Bolton's performance as Newcastle were 3-0 up after 30 minutes.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • Newcastle looked brisk from the off, and their new look strike force trio of Mark Viduka, Alan Smith and Obafemi Martins were dangerous throughout. Newcastle went 1-0 up when Charles N'Zogbia grabbed a goal, and then after 30 minutes were already 3-0 up with Martins grabbing a brace.

Nicolas Anelka scored a consolation of 50 minutes, but it was not enough. Newcastle looked impressive with their new look side, especially in midfield in which the recalled Nicky Butt looked very solid.

Bolton will hope that this poor start is not a sign of things to come post-Allardyce.
