Spurs defeat leaves Chelsea two wins from title

Tottenham Hotspur travelled to fellow Londoners West Ham United on Friday night, knowing that a win would move them to within a point of Premier League leaders Chelsea.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • After nine consecutive Premier League wins, Tottenham still believed that they had every chance of catching Chelsea, and lifting the trophy come the end of the season. They arrived at The London Stadium full of confidence, but failed to really find their stride and get on top of the game.

The only goal of the game came from West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini after sixty five minutes. Three points for the Hammers not only deals a massive blow to Tottenham's title hopes, but will also increase the chances of West Ham manager Slaven Bilic keeping his job.

Following the defeat, the disappointment was clear to see on the faces of the Tottenham players. Although still mathematically possible, it looks like the North London club's wait for a first title since 1961 will go on. Manager Mauricio Pochettino refused to accept that they were out of the title race, but admitted that it would now be more difficult.

Chelsea now need just two more victories to confirm that the Premier League trophy is on it's way back to Stamford Bridge.
