Yaya Toure to snub Ivory Coast recall for Man City stay

07 May 2017 - 12:20

Yaya Toure will reportedly snub the opportunity of a national comeback with Ivory Coast in order to prolong his club career with Manchester City.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The 33-year-old has emerged as a key contributor for the Citizens this season after having settled a rift between his agent and manager Pep Guardiola.

Toure has been a solid performer in the centre of the park this term, and this has put him in line for a new City contract beyond the summer.

According to The Mirror, the veteran will resist the temptation to feature for the Ivory Coast ahead of next year's World Cup in order to concentrate on his Citizens stint.

Toure, who is approaching the final months of his previous deal, is likely to be offered a fresh one-year contract at the Etihad in the summer - which will include a 50 percent pay cut on his current £220,000-a-week wages.

The former Barcelona man has featured nearly 300 times across all competitions for the Mancunian giants since signing up in 2010.
