Gunners shoot down Manchester United

Arsenal came out 2-0 winners against Manchester United on Sunday

Gunners shoot down Manchester United

07 May 2017 - 21:37

Arsenal beat Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday to maintain their battle for a top four finish, and end United's twenty five match unbeaten run.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The first half was fairly even at The Emirates, with the match providing very little to get excited about. The game was decided with two goals within three second half minutes for the hosts. First, Granit Xhaka beat David De Gea when his shot was deflected, before Danny Welbeck secured the victory with a goal against his former team.

This victory sees Arsenal close the gap on today's opponents to just two points, with a game in hand. Although it still looks difficult, The Gunners may believe that they can still fight their way into the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League.

For Manchester United, as many expected, it appears that they are relying on winning the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League. They lead after the first leg of the semi final, but a final against either Ajax or Lyon will not provide a guaranteed victory.

This defeat sees Manchester United's twenty five game unbeaten league run come to an end, a run that saw Mourinho's men win thirteen and draw twelve games.
