Hull City manager being targeted by Southampton

Marco Silva has got Hull City on the verge of Premier League survival

Hull City manager being targeted by Southampton

Before Marco Silva took charge of Hull City, they looked to be sinking back to the Championship without a fight. Whilst still not safe, The Tigers have certainly improved under his management and may be competing in the Premier League once again next season. Now, it is reported that Silva is being lined up to replace Claude Puel at Southampton.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • It is not easy being the manager at Southampton, with the last few transfer windows seeing a constant flow of quality players departing St Mary's. Despite this, Claude Puel, like the managers immediately before him, has produced a team that is sitting in the top half of the league and capable of beating anyone when they are at their best.

It is not the position that The Saints find themselves in that is putting Puel's position in jeopardy however. The Sun reports that criticism from fans about his negative tactics, and a series of training ground bust ups are leading Southampton chiefs to look elsewhere for a manager.

Hull's Marco Silva is the current favourite, according to the report. Their approach for the Portuguese manager will be easier to pull off if Hull are relegated, with Silva having a clause in his contract that would see him leave in that situation.
