Manchester United remain interested in landing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton alongside Chelsea this summer, according to Caught Offside.
The Red Devils have already landed two central midfielders in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and they are keen on signing another player for the role.
Wharton has been linked with the club on many occasions and reports claim that the hierarchy continue to monitor the player's position very closely.
However, a deal could be difficult to pursue in the current transfer window with Palace aware of the significant price tags for young central midfielders.
Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali were sold for £116m and £100m, while Mateus Fernandes was purchased for a staggering fee of around £85m.
The Eagles will reportedly hold out for at least £85m for Wharton, which could prove a huge stumbling block for Michael Carrick's side this summer.
United are reluctant to make such a huge outlay on a third midfield signing and may prefer a more cost-effective solution before the window closes.
