Everton boss issues ultimatum to Ross Barkley

Barkley given deadline for Toffees extension

Everton boss issues ultimatum to Ross Barkley

12 May 2017 - 14:49

England international Ross Barkley could reportedly be packing his bags from Everton, should he fail to negotiate a fresh contract in a week's time.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Three Lions midfielder has shown no intent of extending his current deal amid interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman had previously suggested that the club could get an extension agreed with Barkley, but he now appears to have given the player a deadline to prolong his stay, The Star reports.

Barkley, who has enjoyed a decent-to-good season with the Merseysiders this term, will have to conclude his contract negotiations in the coming week or else pursue his future elsewhere.

The 23-year-old has just 13 months' left on his present deal, and this has heightened speculation over his future following interest from a host of London clubs.

Barkley may not be the sole player leaving Goodison Park in the summer with striker Romelu Lukaku also being linked with a big-money move to a top Premier League side.
