Real Madrid make Eden Hazard transfer decision

25 May 2017 - 06:08

Real Madrid have reportedly decided to end their pursuit of Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard in order to focus on signing a younger recruit.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Belgium international has been constantly linked with a Bernabeu move in recent months following his excellent contribution towards the Blues' title triumph this term.

According to El Bernabeu, the playmaker is no longer the prime target for the Spanish champions with president Florentino Perez having shifted his attention to Monaco's Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has netted over 20 goals in a sublime breakthrough season for the Principality outfit, and it is suggested that it would cost a world-record fee in order to lure him to Spain.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are hoping to develop Marco Asensio into a world-class player, and believe any deal for Hazard could stunt the Spaniard's development.

The news is likely to present a sigh of relief for Blues boss Antonio Conte, who is desperate to keep hold of his main man with the promise of a new bumper contract.

Hazard amassed 16 goals and five assists for Conte's team during the recently concluded Premier League campaign.

He is in line to celebrate a domestic double this weekend, should Chelsea beat arch-rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
