Wayne Rooney off to China?

26 May 2017 - 05:47

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will seek to end his association at Old Trafford this summer amid interest from a couple of Chinese clubs.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The England international lifted the Europa League title earlier this week after he came on as a late substitute, and this may be his last competitive appearance in the Red Devils shirt.

Rooney, who is the club's and England's all-time goalscorer, has found himself out of favour under Jose Mourinho all season, and this has seemingly ended his international prospects ahead of next year's World Cup in Russia.

According to The Mail, the 31-year-old is weighing up offers from a few Chinese Super League clubs, who are willing to part with a £50m salary across two seasons.

In spite of this, former club Everton remain in the hunt for the experienced marksman with Ronald Koeman keen to bring Rooney back to Goodison Park.

The Toffees are likely to offer a lesser wage package of around £150,000-a-week, and this could hinder their prospects of signing Rooney, given he has the chance of receiving three times the sum in the Far East.

Rooney is likely to make a final decision in a week's time with United already in the search for potential additions in the forward department.
