After reportedly having a £28 million offer rejected by Roma this week, Liverpool are preparing to return to the Italian club with an improved offer for Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah.

  • Salah was a transfer target for Liverpool three years ago, but he decided to join fellow Premier League side Chelsea instead. The move to Stamford Bridge never really took off for Salah, who found himself loaned out to Fiorentina and Roma, before making the Roma move a permanent deal.

His time in Italy has shown the quality that he possesses and highlighted why Premier League teams were interested initially. The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given a £150 million summer transfer budget to spend, as the Anfield club look to become serious contenders in the Premier League again, whilst competing in the Champions League too.

According to reports in Italy, Roma immediately rejected Liverpool's £28 million offer, with a bid closer to £40 million expected to be what it takes to give the Egyptian another chance to prove that he can perform in the Premier League.
